Got a later start on on campout to Chief Ladiga Campground. Made it around 8:30-9:00 and immediately started getting camp set up. Met the Camp Warden Terry, who kindly showed us where everything was; most importantly, where the firewood was. Scout started a fire, and set up their tents.
We enjoyed......no we 'endured' the mid 20's that night. We did enjoy the stories and chatter around the campfire.
We had a visit from a grizzly bear that night around 2:30, but it turned out not to be a bear at all. And we were very grateful.
Saturday morning, we stoked the fire, but could not get it to bon-fire status. But we were grateful for the heat. Everyone ate their individual breakfasts, and we enjoyed some hot chocolate.
Got on the bike trail and headed West, yup West. After 3-4 miles we realized Georgia is East. Doh our bad. But it worked out perfectly because as we got back to where we started the Bishop was their waiting. Then we headed east. The state line was 7 miles away. In honor of Chief Ladiga, we tried to ride in Indian formation, where we ride single file and the last person rotates up front, but that didn't last but a half mile as the boys competitive spirit whispered louder. Bishop and President Davis were with the leading group of boys, Brother Holmes stuck with Brady Jacobson on his single speed bmx trick bike, and Brother Robinson, and Brother Dowdle were comfortable at the back of the pack. All the boys did an amazing job and I think had a good time.
These are some pictures we took at the state line. The trail is amazing and is nicely paved the entire way. If you like biking, and have not been on the chief Ladiga trail then we highly recommend it. But wait for weather that is above freezing for the best experience.
